Check Up Time *thud*

Found during a Google Image search for Thud. HILARIOUS!

*THUD*

That's the sound of me hitting the floor once I pass out during my blood work or IV input.

It is annual MEN1 check up time. Last year I was officially put on annual check ups and it's hard to believe it's already been a year. I pretty much dread these trips. If you've read some of my blog entries or know me personally, you will know that I have blood phobia issues that cause me to occasionally pass out, thus the thud above. Obviously what really plays into this phobia and my general anxiety is fear they're going to find something...

Maybe some little benign existing tumor-let has decided to go rogue. I've seen an MEN patient online refer to his inactive tumors as a little buddies. I've got a little buddy on my adrenal glad that makes me nervous. Maybe my pituitary has decided to start acting up. Maybe some other obscure MEN complication like bronchial carcinoid will rear it's ugly little head.

All of this is pretty doubtful and I would be surprised if something was found but at the time I decided to stop being in denial about my MEN 1 I also had to accept the possibility that these other complications could, and even likely will, come up at some point.

So I'm off to MD Anderson for testing on Monday and doctor consults on Tuesday. At least I am comfortable that I am being seen by some of the most knowledgeable MEN docs and staff in the country and I feel certain that if there is something to deal with that they will find it. Truly though, I don't anticipate any bad or even somewhat bad news.

MD Anderson is an impressive facility - I will try to snap some photos while I am there so you can get an idea of what it's like.

After I get back from Houston I am off to Blowing Rock, NC for a 4 day triathlon training camp. I am trying to look forward to this trip but have to get past the MD Anderson trip first before I can turn my thoughts to excitement about camp.

I will let you know what I hear on Tuesday but always appreciate crossed fingers and toes!
